ATMOSPHERE will be organising a satellite special session, Federation in Cloud and Container Structures (IWFCC), during the 9th International Conference on Cloud Computing and Services Science (CLOSER 2019) from 2-4 May in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

Federation of cloud providers has been a research topic with a high impact for a long time. Despite the advances in the federation of identity and authorisation management, the synchronization of catalogues and the resource workload among clouds, there are still many interesting topics yet to be appropriately covered, such as federated networking, resource migration, scheduling policies and privacy restrictions.

Moreover, the increased popularity of containers for application delivery and execution isolation opens up new scenarios.

The workshop will be co-chaired by the ATMOSPHERE Co-Coordinators Ignacio Blanquer and Francisco Brasileiro.

Workshop Topics

  • Cloud Federation
  • Federated Cloud Networks
  • Federation of Container-based Infrastructures
  • Services for Cloud Federation
  • Applications on Federated Clouds
  • Best Practices in Federation

The workshop forms a part of CLOSER 2019. The 9th International Conference on Cloud Computing and Services Science, CLOSER 2019, focuses on the emerging area of Cloud Computing, inspired by some latest advances that concern the infrastructure, operations, and available services through the global network.

Further, the conference considers as essential the link to Services Science, acknowledging the service-orientation in most current IT-driven collaborations.

The conference is nevertheless not about the union of these two (already broad) fields, but about Cloud Computing where we are also interested in how Services Science can provide theory, methods and techniques to design, analyze, manage, market and study various aspects of Cloud Computing.

Conference Areas

  • Services Science
  • Data as a Service
  • Cloud Operations
  • Edge Cloud and Fog Computing
  • Service Modelling and Analytics
  • Mobile Cloud Computing
  • Cloud Computing Fundamentals
  • Cloud Computing Platforms and Applications
  • Cloud Computing Enabling Technology
