ICT Policy Makers

Governments and city councils have been adopting cloud computing solutions to provide less costly, more efficient and better public services through a variety of cloud deployment models (private, public, hybrid and/or community clouds). This adoption seeks the offering of e-Government services to meet the demands and expectations of citizens who are increasingly embracing digital and mobile technologies.

Information security and data protection are the top concerns in the public sector regarding

cloud solutions. To ensure an adequate information security and data protection, in place by the cloud service provider (CSP), regardless of the system’s physical location and the jurisdiction governing privacy and security issues in relation to the data concerned, is fundamental. However, stablishing trust and building trustworthy services is still a challenge in different areas and has special relevance for public bodies and city councils.

Why ATMOSPHERE is relevant for ICT Policy Makers?

ATMOSPHERE will increase trust in e-government services, by building trustworthy services

and ensuring adequate information security and data protection measures by CSP. How? By designing and implementing a Framework for the Assessment and Monitoring of Trustworthiness.
