With the conclusion of the 2018 edition of the Cloudscape Brazil and Workshop on Cloud Networks (WCN) held last 25-26 July 2018, the fields of trustworthy cloud computing, 5G, artificial intelligence, internet-of-things, smart cities, and e-health have been enriched with new insights from Europe and Brazil's leading experts in their respective fields, with the publication of the event report and position papers.
GÉANT, Europe’s leading collaboration on e-infrastructure and services for research and education, and RedCLARA, the Latin American Research and Education Network, today announced the signing of an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) contract with EllaLink, for spectrum on a direct submarine cable connecting Europe and Latin America.
During the latest Cloudscape Brazil and Workshop on Cloud Networks held in Natal, Brazil, cooperation between ATMOSPHERE and various 5G projects has been established.
The collaboration between these projects will bridge the fields of 5G and trustworthy cloud computing. The new synergies established were with the following:
Cloudscape Brazil 2018 has an ongoing Call for Position Papers that will allow stakeholders to be a part of the working agenda of the conference.
Applications for position papers are accepted from industry, academia and policy representatives from Europe and Brazil.
As with previous Cloudscape events, successfully submiting a position paper gives the authors excellent visibility at the event as well as in the ATMOSPHERE website.
Accepted papers will be invited to present during a dedicated session on 26 July at the Workshop on Cloud Networks.
As part of the programme for the 5th edition of Cloudscape Brazil this 2018, a Call for Posters has been opened encouraging research and innovation projects from across the EU and Brazil to showcase their research results and projects.
Showcasing a poster is an effective way to communicate the work done by projects while doing so in a creative and personal way. Posters are also used to encourage questions and discussion. The goal of the poster session in Cloudscape 2018 is to facilitate the sharing of ideas, research or project developments, results and successful outcomes.

Under the theme "Trusted technologies for strong and competitive economies", Cloudscape Brazil 2018 will bring together European and Brazilian SMEs, start-ups, policy representatives and research institutions, to debate how new technology trends and novelties are stimulating innovation in different business sectors.
The ACCOUNT Workshop, organised by ATMOSPHERE and NECOS projects will take place during the Latin-America Symposium on Dependable Computing (LADC 2018), which will be held in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), from the 8th to the 10th of October. LADC is the main Latin-American event on computer system dependability with technical sessions, workshops, tutorials, fast abstracts, and keynote addresses from international experts in the area and an industrial track.
A special interest group on cloud computing will be established in the Sociedade Brasileira de Computação during the upcoming Workshop on Cloud Networks 2018, due to be held in 26 July.
