This demo aims at showing the current status of the ongoing SWAMP (Smart Water Management Platform) Project. SWAMP develops and assesses an IoT-based smart water management platform for precision irrigation in agriculture with a hands-on approach based on four pilots in Brazil, Italy and Spain.
This demo shows how to use Lemonade, a platform to create, test and run machine learning models, to create neural network models using Keras framework. Model building can be scheduled to run in a cloud infrastructure using Lemonade. Resource requirements, such as GPGPU support, can be defined in Lemonade and are allocated by Kubernetes, allowing scale Lemonade's modules to be scaled when demand increases.
This video demonstrates DNAt -- Data and Application tracking, a platform for confidential data processing and tracking of executions of applications over sensitive data in untrusted or open environments. DNAt uses Ethereum smart contracts to build immutable registries of application and data usage. Furthermore, to guarantee confidential execution and enforce that operations are appropriately logged in the blockchain, DNAt uses Intel SGX, a trusted execution environment that protects memory regions even in untrusted environments.
The FASTEN Thyssenkrupp Use Case Experiment is conceived to address the technological challenge of designing an integrated manufacturing and logistics system into a tangible solution. Maintenance services, spare parts lead-time, manufacturing, and inventory costs can be enhanced by incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in a digital end-to-end value stream, supported by analytical decision-making approaches. Along with that, an advanced additive
The concept of multi-tenancy has become key to the evolution of the networks and cloud environments, enabling novel network slicing ideas on top of the existing telecom networks. While paradigms such as Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) have tremendously fostered this evolutionary view, these paradigms are not sufficient for network slicing. Especially for the former, there is a prevalent NFV-centric view in the state-of-the-art solutions which does not leverage a native integration of cloud computing and advanced networking.
The 5G-Range provides a solution for mobile broadband in remote areas to overcome the current limitations in range in 4G and 5G standards. The project aims to reduce the operational cost by exploiting TVWS in remote areas and increase the data rate at the cell edge and bring 5G services to rural and remote areas. The features of the project are robustness using MIMO diversity and Polar Codes, smartness with Cognitive Radio & Dynamic Spectrum, the coexistence with other technologies with Low Out-of-Band emissions and the flexibility to cover multiples scenarios.
Cloud robotics is about cognitive augmentation of modern robots. In this demo, we will explain Ortelio's general concept of what cloud robotics is and our vision for the future. We will present results from the EU funded projects RAPP and Mario. These projects illustrate how cloud robotics is influencing modern robotics.
CloudNEXT (Cloud ComputiNg Experimental Testbed) is a testbed that aims to offer researchers baremetal resources as well as customized baremetal clusters (specifically Openstack clouds). It is under development by RNP (Brazil's NREN), University of São Paulo, Federal University of Campina Grande, with financial support from innovation agency FINEP (Contract/Agreement number 01.17.0004.00). The testbed is federated with FIBRE testbed (Brazil’s main Future Internet testbed), and uses OMF version 6 as its Control and Management Framework (CMF).
TMA (Trustworthiness and Monitoring Assessment) Platform allows self-adaptation on cloud applications through trustworthiness quality models and scores. The demo presented in this video shows a simple web application that is deployed in a Kubernetes cluster. When the received load increases, TMA dispatches an adaptation plan when the trustworthiness scores continuously monitored are outside the expected boundaries. The scores are calculated based on the information provided by probes, and the adaptation plan is executed through actuators.
Cloud computing environments are an increasingly competitive alternative for data processing and storage. However, there is a great deal of concern about the security, reliability and privacy of the data outsourced in such environments , since there is no guarantee that opportunistic attackers or people with access to the infrastructure will not abuse their privileges and manipulate the data inappropriately.
The 3D simulation can be used with advantages for the accomplishment of courses in the area of Engineering and Technology. As an example of application, the training course in Mechanical Vibration Analysis developed by MDI will be demonstrated. This course is available on the YouinLAB platform and uses 3D computer simulation technology. An industrial scenario is simulated, with a hydraulic pump system driven by an electric motor. Six situations are simulated: normal state, pump bearing defect, motor motor bearing defect, imbalance, electric motor problem and cavitation.
Federated clouds address many problems of scientific and industrial applications, such as legal restrictions and efficient access to data. Despite these benefits, its natural geographic distribution and its complex software stack challenge developers and operators seeking to take advantage of this type of infrastructure.
